What we do

Disciplinary Enquiries/ CCMA/ NBCCI
We advise on and assist in formulating appropriate charge(s) against employees in cases of misconduct. Our consultants are highly experienced in Chairing disciplinary enquiries, ensuring procedural and substantive fairness and minimising risk in this regard when referred to the CCMA/ National Bargaining Council. Using an external chairperson further addresses potential concern around internal bias.
As Employer Organisation, we represent member organisations at the CCMA/ National Bargaining Council at conciliation and arbitration hearings.

Why should Employers contract out their disciplinary hearing to us
Line Managers
- Are uncomfortable with their findings and decisions being challenged on appeal and in the CCMA or Bargaining Council.
- Do not want to discipline their “own” staff.
- Do not want to discipline staff from other departments or divisions.
- They do not have the time and they feel that it is not their responsibility to discipline other manager’s staff.
Novas Consultants
- Have the knowledge and experience to conduct hearings at all levels in the business.
- This is what they do best, their success rate, with references, proves it.
- Stay up to date with latest Labour Courts judgements and arbitration rulings to be able to apply case law in findings and recommendations.
- Unbiased decisions/finding are made which makes it easier for the accused to accept the proceedings of the disciplinary hearing
Dispute Resolution
We facilitate discussion between company and labour, specifically in areas of dispute, playing the role of neutral third party to hear and reflect opposing agendas with the aim of resolution. We also find alternative ways to resolve employer-employee conflict to find amicable and mutually beneficial outcomes.
